Colonel Buckshot is seriously upset that someone has badmouthed the hilariously nutty Christian Identity Movement in the States.  Gosh, why would anyone think those guys might be crazy?

Cumbrian ‘Patriots’: “Cumbria is better than the South West because it has less dark people”, or words to that effect.

Derby Patriot: it’s amazing how they’ve trained that poor beast. I am, of course, referring to Shaydee_Lady, who is apparently easily amused by anything which is vaguely downputting of Obama.

Sarah Maid of Albion: “I actually don’t understand US law at all. Oh well, I can just make it up, instead.”

The Green Arrow: “The Turko-Islamic horde is poised to overrun us, and when they do, we will all be forced to eat kebabs and watch belly-dancers.  AAAEEEEEEEEEEIIII!”

Up Pompeii: “Being tortured is just another ingenius jihadist plot to overthrow the West.”

You know, I lament the often ill-formatted and grammatically incorrect rantings of the British fascist blogosphere.  Sadly, No! doesn’t have to put up with this sort of shoddy nonsense.  Their targets practically write the jokes themselves, in clear and easily intelligible English.

I’m not sure Nick Clegg quite understands this representative democracy business.  Let me explain:

Some people out there, who we will refer to as “me”, don’t like Labour or the Tories very much.  Therefore, we vote against them, usually for another party who we think supports our interests better and opposes those two parties.

When, therefore, one party states it intends to support another party, even in an unlikely (if endlessly debated and theorized) scenario, it actually kind of removes any incentive to vote for them, because they are making it clear they will not support the interests of their voters, because, ultimately, either the Labour or Tory party will be dictating policy.

Hurrah!  Government by The People, for The People!  And freedom!  And a puppy!

So apparently, the party formerly known as Bush’s Cheerleaders has come out with a new statement of principles, since they’re evidently not yet bored of purging the ranks.

However, they have convinced me to throw my hat into the ring, and form my own political party, with my own, superior statement of principles.  Because naturally, anything they can do, I can do better:

1.  We support smaller government through mandated Russian Roulette games for all political seats and, if killed, the politician replaced by a blow-up sexdoll.  All lobbyists will also be thrown down a cliff, then laughed at.

2.  We support abusing Canada’s government-run health care, and will bus American citizens over the border to be treated.

3.  We support market based energy reform, such as hiring Blackwater to slash the tires of every energy company who doesn’t do as we say.

4.  We support the worker’s right to go crazy and whack their supervisor, if they feel like it.

5.  We support the expulsion of all illegal immigrants to America, their children, their children’s children, their children’s children children etc etc ad infinitum.  Zero tolerance.

6.  We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by declaring we have won, then withdrawing sneakily so the terrorists cannot follow us home.

7.  We support the containment of Iran and North Korea via the construction of a giant, space-based weapons platform, which we call a “Death Star”.  Dick Cheney will be the commanding officer.

8.  We support the Defense of Marriage even more, by restricting marriage to white, hetrosexual twenty-somethings, and making divorce punishable by being hung until you are sorry dead.

9.  We support death panels so long as it makes Sarah Palin do more hilarious freakouts.

10.  We support the right of every child in America to own one depleted uranium shell.

So, I should probably explain what that previous post was about, right?

Firstly, some of you may have noticed that the PFLD archives have been….shortened.  Quite considerably in fact.  Yes, I am aware of this.  I decided to delete many of the old posts.  For one, they were not very good and two, I decided a break with the past is in order.

For the past few years, I have been allied with something that vaguely refers to itself as the liberal-left blogosphere.  There were sound tactical reasons for it at the time.  It was the Bush and Blair years…oh those dreary days of a long time ago.  At that time, finding anyone who was willing to speak out against The Warlord and his pet Satrap was hard enough…and half of the people one did find were usually attacking them from even futher right, or a point of incomprehensibility entirely (ie, practically anyone posting on the BBC’s Have Your Say).

But I think it is time for such an association to come to an end.  While I obviously still have some favourites from that general area of the blogosphere, especially the funnier ones, there are problems in continuing to assosciate with others.  That’s not to say I’m still somewhere in that area in many of my views, only that I no longer see myself as part of that great internet tribe.

The thing is, as has increasingly become obvious to me over the years of reading such people is this: they really don’t like chaos very much.  Oh sure, they flapped their hands at Bush and pretended to be insurgents, but as soon as the Boy Prince took over, they cheered, went back to flipping off Tories, and made some half-hearted criticisms of stuff that would have had them calling for Bush’s head.  It’s all so…party political.  And I really don’t like political parties.

I’m actually kind of finding this hard to explain, and I know I haven’t done an excellent job here.  I think what I am trying to say is, though, that it is time for me to trailblaze my own, distinctive approach to world affairs and other matters.  Time to stop worrying what a bunch of people who, after all, only pose as enemies of the system because their particular court faction isn’t currently in favour, might think of my more iconoclastic tendencies and dismissive attitude towards the mores and norms of these fair islands.  They’re not really going to accept me anyway, so I might as well go ahead and say what I really think.

In short, it’s time for me to bring chaos back to the centre of my own thinking, and work from there.  And maybe throw a few spanners in the works in the process.  How this will actually turn out…I’m not sure.  But it’ll be interesting to find out.

Advice for the delightfully single minded bloggers at Biased BBC:  if the best you can do to discredit Professor Nutt is an article from Melanie “MMR vaccine is causing autism, Obama is a secret Marxist, Muslims and Atheists secretly try to control my mind” Phillips, you may want to consider getting your information from somewhere else.

Anywhere else, in fact.  Graffiti on bathroom stalls, crazy old homeless guys, séances, David Icke.

Just saying, you know, there is a wee bit of a credibility issue here.

Britain’s most senior civil servants are to hold formal talks with the Liberal Democrats on their plans for government as Whitehall prepares for a hung parliament in which Nick Clegg could hold the balance of power after the next election.

In a departure from the Lib Dems’ practice at the last election, Clegg has agreed that members of his front bench will meet Whitehall’s permanent secretaries to discuss the party’s manifesto. The decision to hold the meetings, which are also being offered to the Tories, comes as the “golden triangle” at the top of Whitehall makes preparations for an election in which no party gains an overall majority.

Opinion polls indicate that Britain may be heading for a hung parliament, the first since 1974. The failure of David Cameron to secure a decisive breakthrough in the polls after appearing to build up a lead in the summer has convinced senior figures in Whitehall to make coalition plans…

While there are few phrases in the English language more beautiful than “deadlocked Parliament” I see little reason to break out the champagne, even if it were to happen.  Common sense dictates the mostly tolerable Lib Dems would be in the “Kingmaker” position of having significant power over government policy and thus introducing a measure of sanity back into the wonderful bubble world of Westminster.  However, deep seated and mutual loathing aside, there is no reason why Labour and the Tories could not make their own ad hoc alliances on issues of mutual agreement – such as screwing over the proles, or national (in)security.  Precisely the areas those parties are most loathed and destructive, in other words.  Since despite their apparent opposition both of these parties have significant overlap in such areas as this, to think that a Hung Parliament would interfere with the downward spiral of the UK political class is wishful thinking at best.  The Lib Dems, as always, will be ignored, and a national government of unity will likely emerge, naturally due to the “unique” nature of the economic crisis, either de facto or de jure.

I’d just like to remind everyone the last time we had a national government of unity was under WWII, which gave the government of the day, for all intents and purposes, dictatorial power over the country.  At least back then there was, you know, a reason behind its creation, and some limiting factors.  Given the economic illiteracy in government, I wouldn’t hope for such a quick and simple solution here.

tl;dr, Lib Dems will get played in any scenario where they are not the second largest party in Parliament, if not largest.  Sooner they wise up to that fact, the better.

Gordon Brown has officially jumped the shark.

Saved the world  indeed…hell, lets dial back a bit, saved the banking system?  Wow, well that’s really brought the economy back on line, hasn’t it?  For those of you fortunate enough to be in a fairly urban area, the answer is no, it hasn’t.  In fact, the local factory here laid off most of its temporary Christmas staff last week, and I here other companies are close to doing the same.  Since this town only has five or six big employers that, until recently, took on lots of workers, this is a huge blow to the local economy.

Of course I know that the banking system was never going to be saved and the bailout is nothing more than cleverly disguised looting.  But I would have thought that if the banking system had been saved, at least one effect would be, you know, an improving economy.  If anything, these bailouts are making things worse, by rewarding businesses that, in the long run, cannot be saved.  We’re just putting off the inevitable, and making sure when a crash does come, there will be no money left to deal with it.
